'We A Family' is an ongoing series  

located in Sandtown Winchester, a neighbourhood in West Baltimore, USA. 

Having met the ever welcoming family when I was studying in Baltimore in 2014, I have since re-visited in 2016 and 2018 and will continue to do so as long as I am welcome. 

The images aim to dispel some of the stereotypes usually associated with Sandtown and the people who live there.

"We A Family"

Passing through Baltimore on my way to New York in early 2016 I decided to use my spare afternoon to go and re-visit Sandtown Winchester, two years on from my first visits. 


Reaching the intersection between South Carey and Mosher I spotted Yeado who recognised me and told me the family had since moved a few streets up. 

Being welcomed back by everyone and spending the afternoon having a chat and drink on the stoop was one of the best parts of my trip back to Baltimore that weekend. 


It was great to meet Tyiesha's beautiful baby boy Tylan, receive new nicknames from Ms Tracy (Miss England or Ms Barbie being my personal favourite), and talk to Raymond about the progression of his music and video production company, KiddRay Productions.
